Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 4, 2026

Introduction

Pepper ("we," "our," or "us") is a wardrobe management application that helps you organize your clothing, plan outfits, and explore your personal style. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

By using Pepper, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our service:

  • Account information: your email address, used for authentication and account management.
  • Wardrobe item data: photos, descriptions, categories, brands, prices, and other details you provide about your clothing items.
  • Outfit photos: images you upload for outfit-of-the-day features and outfit planning.
  • Style preferences: your calibration choices, vibe scores, and style axis settings that help us understand your taste.

How We Use Your Information

Your data is used solely to power the features of Pepper:

  • Organizing and displaying your wardrobe
  • Generating outfit suggestions and style insights
  • Providing AI-powered item analysis and image generation
  • Authenticating your account and maintaining your session

AI Processing

To provide features like item analysis, style recommendations, and image generation, your photos and item data may be sent to third-party AI providers, specifically Google Gemini. These providers process your data according to their own data handling policies.

We only send the minimum data necessary for AI processing, and we do not use your data to train AI models ourselves.

Data Storage and Security

  • Your data is stored in the United States using Supabase as our database and storage provider.
  • Photos are stored in Supabase storage and are encrypted at rest.
  • We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information.
  • Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account only.

Data Sharing and Usage

We do not sell your personal data. Your individual wardrobe contents, photos, and personal information are never shared with or sold to third parties.

We use anonymized and aggregated data from user activity to:

  • Train and improve our AI style recommendation engine
  • Identify fashion trends and style patterns across our user base
  • Provide aggregated trend data and style analytics to fashion industry partners

This aggregated data does not include personally identifiable information — it reflects collective style trends and preferences, not individual user data.

We also share data with AI processing providers (Google Gemini) as described above, which is necessary to deliver core app features.

Browser Extension

The Pepper browser extension for Chrome allows you to import clothing items from online stores directly into your Pepper wardrobe. Here is how the extension handles your data:

  • What the extension reads: When you click the extension icon on a shopping site, it reads publicly visible product information from the current page — product names, prices, images, sizes, and colors. It does NOT read your browsing history, personal data, or any information from non-shopping pages.
  • When it activates: The extension only reads page content when YOU explicitly click the extension icon or trigger a scan. It never runs in the background or monitors your browsing activity.
  • Data sent to our servers: Captured product information (name, price, image URL) is sent to your Pepper account so items appear in your wardrobe. When standard scraping cannot find product details, the page structure (HTML layout, not personal data) may be sent to our AI service to generate site-specific scraping instructions.
  • Local storage: The extension stores your authentication token and cached site-specific scraping configurations locally in your browser. No personal data or browsing history is stored.
  • Permissions: The extension requires broad host permissions (<all_urls>) because it needs to work on any shopping website — there is no fixed list of supported stores. All permissions are used solely for product data extraction, never for tracking or advertising.

Cookies

We use cookies strictly for authentication purposes — to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies.

Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have the right to:

  • Access all data associated with your account
  • Update or correct your information at any time
  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time

When you delete your account, all of your data — including wardrobe items, photos, outfit history, and style preferences — is permanently removed from our systems.

Children's Privacy

Pepper is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of Pepper after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
